Next Generation Films Orders Sixth VAREX Co-ex Line from W&H

LINCOLN, RI | While awaiting the arrival of a new 3-layer VAREX co-extrusion line from Windmoeller & Hoelscher, Next Generation Films, Lexington, OH, has placed an order for another VAREX line. This marks Next Generation's sixth investment in W&H machinery, and the third in the past year alone.

Steady growth has led Next Generation to continue investing in capital equipment. Both new high-output VAREX lines have grooved feed extruders (105.30/135.30/105.30D), a 35-in. OPTIFIL P2 die, and FILMATIC T dual turret winder. These lines will add more than 50 million pounds of capacity per year, all of which has been presold for the production of custom films.

Last year, Next Generation boasted $100 million in annual sales, with the goal of doubling that figure within the next five years. According to Dave Frecka, who founded the company in 1994, it is on its way to reaching that goal ahead of schedule.

Frecka is a strong proponent of minimizing the company's carbon footprint. He has erected a wind turbine and recycling center on the company campus. His patent pending nano-technology helps the company develop strong 3-layer films with minimal materials.
