Conference Focuses On Retort Pouch Developments

MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ | Retort-Pouch-2009, the fifth annual dedicated retort pouch conference, will be held April 7-9, 2009, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Monroe Township (near Princeton, NJ). Organizers of The Packaging Group say the program will be held over three days in light of the economic downturn.

Tuesday, April 7, will feature two newly developed half-day courses aimed at both understanding the growth potential of the retort pouch and producing a filled product efficiently and economically. Wednesday, April 8, will feature a 10- to 12-speaker supply chain conference. The keynote speaker will be Anna Shawyer, Principal of Apple Canyon Gourmet, developers of “Heat-em Ups” chicken soup in a microwavable clear retort stand-up pouch. Nearly one dozen additional speakers will bring attendees up to date on all aspects of the retort supply chain. On Thursday, April 9, Gary Dmytrow of TanRin Consulting (Canada) will conduct an intensive one-day seminar for all retort pouch pros from marketing to the introduction on achieving “Retort Pouch Integrity.
