Kodak Experts Addresses 'Future Trends, Technologies' at Labelexpo

ROCHESTER, NY | The latest techniques and technologies that label converters can use to help brand owners draw attention to their products, decrease time to market, and ensure protection against counterfeiting are among the topics that Kodak experts covered during Labelexpo Americas. The event took place Sept. 9-11 in Chicago.

John Anderson, Flexo Plate Product Manager, Americas, Packaging Products, Kodak's Graphic Communications Group (GCG) participated in the “Finding Direction in the Future of Label Converting” session in the PressRoom of the Future track. Session highlights included next steps in label materials, such as paper and film; future trends in label printing; a look at sustainable converting; and how the Green Printing Coalition relates to the label industry.

“Labels play a key role in product marketing and brand protection,” said Anderson. “Innovative technologies create new opportunities for printers, converters, suppliers, and brand owners to more effectively meet customer needs for speed, color, flexibility and security.”

During Labelexpo's Security and Brand Protection Day on Thursday, September 11, Steven Powell, Director of Business Development, Security Solutions, Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, discussed how print providers are working with brand owners to fight counterfeiting and ensure consumers receive authentic products. The presentation, “Product and Solution Design: Analog/Digital Printing and Converting,” offered specific examples of anticounterfeiting technologies being integrated with various printing methods, including offset and digital.

“New capabilities in anticounterfeiting technologies are enabling printers and converters to make it harder for counterfeiters to create cheap imitations of branded labels and packaging,” said Powell. “From the simplicity of a drop in thermal transfer ribbon to the sophistication of cutting edge overt and ultra covert solutions for digital and traditional printing, Kodak is developing a variety of ways to easily integrate tough countermeasures for the print industry with the KODAK TRACELESS System for Anti-counterfeiting.”
