Barco to Demo Prepress and Proofing Products at Print 2001

VANDALIA, OH, USA—At the upcoming Print 2001 show in Chicago next month, Barco Graphics will bring together the three units that comprise its business: package printing, industrial printing, and commerical printing.

As part of its booth exhibition (#5736), the manufacturer will showcase its complete modular, open workflow for the packaging industry. Co. says demos will center around workflow management, while also covering the structural design, packaging graphics, color retouching, stepping/nesting, ripping, proofing, and plate imaging.

BackStage, the totally open digital workflow to be demonstrated at the show, provides users with a high level of workflow automation and maximizes productivity, repeatability, and consistency, reports the mfr.

In addtion, the co.'s booth will feature demos of its line of software solutions, including ArtiosCAD, used for structrual design; PLATO, used for creation of print-ready plate layouts; PackEdge, Barco's prepress packaging software, and ColorTone, used for production retouching.

Co. will also highlight FlexProof, Barco's open digital-proofing solution. According to the manufacturer, FlexProof produces reliable, color managed digital proofs no matter what the input—PostScript3, PDF, TIFF, or Barco—to any digital proofer. Adobe certified and ICC compatibile, FlexProof outputs color matching, screen matching, and conventional concept proofs, reports co.

Print 2001 is slated for September 6–13, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL, USA.
