Flint Calls for Entries in Narrow Web Print Awards

PLYMOUTH, MN | Flint Group Narrow Web has officially opened the 11th annual Narrow Web Print Awards competition with a Call for Entries, encouraging label converters from around the globe to submit sample labels of their choosing for evaluation by a panel of industry judges.

The winners of this award will be announced during a live event at the Flint Group stand at Labelexpo Europe 2015 in Brussels on September 30.

In 2013 and 2014, Flint Group challenged printers in the wider world of narrow web by highlighting a special category for narrow web packaging applications. Niklas Olsson, Global Brand Manager, says, “The unequalled success we experienced with submissions in narrow web packaging applications demands an encore of this genre in 2015. We encourage printers to demonstrate the enriched pallet of applications that are possible using narrow-mid web presses, utilizing any print method of their choice—water-based flexo, UV flexo, UV offset, or a combination thereof.”

Olsson continues, “Additionally, we want to pay tribute to the pioneering spirit we see in narrow web, and therefore proudly announce a new category called ‘LED UV Printing.’ For this special category, we ask pioneers of the industry to come forward and provide examples with a challenge to be the first winner of the LED UV Print Award.”

Criteria for judging includes: registration, smoothness of dot/vignette, overall print quality, and degree of difficulty. Entries will be placed in categories relating to technology and application.

Entry Guidelines are as follows:

• Each entry must be printed using inks from Flint Group

• Entries can be a commercial label or a promotional label

• Entries can be sent in roll or sheet form with no less than 20 of each label—converters should specify if labels cannot be displayed on the Flint Group stand.

• Entries should be received no later than August 28, 2015

• Entries should be submitted directly to Flint Group Packaging and Narrow Web.
