Esko Offers Tools for 3D Packaging Design

GHENT, BELGIUM | Esko offers Studio, a set of tools for 3D packaging design. Reportedly allows the creation of PDF files with 3D content, movies, a virtual pack shot, or a shopping shelf.

Said to be fast and easy and to integrate with tools including Adobe Illustrator. Allows converters to check for mistakes before making printing plates, embossing dies, or varnish blankets. Enables user to avoid rejects by showing client up-front an accurate virtual mock-up.

Company says tools work well with boxes, using technology from company’s ArtiosCAD and several artwork tools to handle the complexity of panels.

Studio has tools for detecting and removing double lines and closing small gaps. With intuitive folding tools, user can give carton or corrugated structure its 3D shape. Also can change the board type and thickness.

Tools also can simulate a virtual shrink sleeve around an object and apply artwork to see what artwork elements might suffer from distortion.
