Phoenix Challenge 2014 Dates Announced

CHARLOTTE, NC | The Phoenix Challenge Foundation (PCF) announces the 2014 High School Competition dates. It has been scheduled to be held March 19–21 at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte

Now in its 17th years, the Challenge invites graphic arts students and teachers from throughout the US and Canada to participate in the two-and-half-day skills-based competition with hands-on and comprehensive testing in printing mathematics, operating a flexo press, prepress, platemaking, and overall flexo knowledge

A judging group made up of industry professionals and educator will score a variety of skills sessions and live action prepress and on-press activities, then score each team for final winners of the competition. Winning teams are rewarded top honors and individual scholarships at the close of the competition, all funded by the Phoenix Challenge Foundation.

“I am so excited to see the Phoenix Challenge high school competition grow every year,” says Bettlylyn Krafft, chairman of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation. “This year we are expecting more than 50 students. Its popularity shows me the industry is a great place to build a career and job path.”

Krafft adds, “As a nonprofit organization, the money we raise is critical to our success as we build the flexo and graphic arts workforce of tomorrow. Any additional support will allow us to continue growing long into the future.” She says all participating sponsors receive access to a variety of options that deliver valuable marketing and awareness for their companies.
