Scodix Metallic Wins InterTech Award

ROSH HA’AYIN, ISRAEL | Scodix, provider of digital enhancement solutions for the graphic arts industry, is a recipient of a 2013 Printing Industries of America (PIA) InterTech Technology Award. Scodix Metallic is a digital process that enables service providers and their customers to enhance their prints with metallic coloring by
utilizing the CMYK color process via the Scodix SENSE digital press—all in a digital one-pass print process.

“The judges were impressed with the quality of the samples and how Scodix allows the service providers to easily differentiate their prints [and their operations] by making projects come alive,” says Dr. Mark Bohan, VP, Technology and Research, PIA. “The Scodix Metallic offering is a cost-effective and efficient way to produce high quality metallic effects using a completely digital printing process. The judges especially marveled at the technology’s potential for high-end packaging and marketing applications. Simply said, print differentiates itself with this technology.”

PIA will present the InterTech Technology Awards at the 2013 Premier Print Awards and InterTech Technology Awards Gala on Sunday, September 8, during PRINT 2013 in Chicago.

"We are honored to receive this award and proud of the impact Scodix Metallic is so quickly making in our marketplace,” says Dror Danai, Scodix EVP Business Development. “This innovative feature opens additional new and exciting print enhancement opportunities for our customers and end-users.”

He says that, with one pass of Scodix SENSE, a printed sheet can have gold, silver, bronze, embossing, textures, high and low levels of clear polymer effects, and more. In addition, the a patent pending process is said to protect the printed image and the metallic impact from scratching and scuffing, a clear advantage over traditional foil stamping.
