Vodka Label Wins Big

RICHMOND, VA | Chesapeake Corp. recently captured top honors in the labeling category at the UK Packaging Awards sponsored by Packaging News magazine in the UK. The winning entry was for Russian Standard Vodka.

The detailed labels are printed in eight colors using high color control standards along with a roller-coat varnish. They are enhanced with gold foil to produce a deep, reflective sheen. Embossing adds the final touch and further improves shelf appeal.

Chesapeake produces the labels at its plant in Hillington, Scotland.

Reliable Addition in Australia

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA | Pemara Labels, like most printers, is being pressured to reduce prices while maintaining or improving quality. Toward that end, Pemara purchased an MBSF automatic butt splicer and LRD automatic rewind from Martin Automatic. The splicer/rewinder combination will be placed on a Gallus press.

Pemara's operation is very diverse, and its customers require a variety of printing methods including screen, offset, and digital. Says Pemara Labels' Andrew McNamara, “Given Australia is a long way from America, we needed to make sure we have equipment that we can rely on. There are only a few suppliers that manufacture products that suit our presses, and Martin Automatic is a recognized and reputable supplier.”
