The Kongsberg XL Series of samplemaking tables has been expanded. Designed for the folding carton community, Model XL20 is the smallest in the XL family, featuring a work area of 66 × 50 in. (1,680 × 1,270 mm). According to mfr., XL20 can utilize entire range of tools, options, and features from the XL repertoire. Examples of applications include carton/corrugated crossover, plastic materials, varnish blankets, and more. Includes recently introduced FlexiHead-M toolhead, which enables milling of crease matrices for folding carton samplemaking.
Laser Coder Tunes to Tough Applications
Domino Amjet Inc., Gurnee, IL; 847/244-2501
DDC 3 digital laser coder is now available in enhanced resolution version. Coder is said to feature near-graphics-quality coding and application-specific laser tubes tuned to the particular substrate's spectral response. According to mfr., coder's inherent ability to adjust power levels digitally enables laser coding of even thin-wall materials, such as PET, without danger of burnthrough or compromising packaging integrity. Coupled with DDC 3's dual laser head capability, these features reportedly enable simultaneous, high quality coding of the same or radically different substrates.
Digital Workflow Upgrades Increase Productivity
ScenicSoft Inc., Lynnwood, WA; 425/249-5328; scenicsoft.com
Color Central 3.7 increases digital workflow productivity by automatically reducing image file sizes for fast handling during production, reports co. Server-based software then restores full image data for final output and automates printing activity by sending files to queues. Software provides security and auditing features for optimal control of the user's environment, reports mfr. Macintosh version contains upgrades that give it OPI and print management capabilities level with those currently available in Windows.
Substrates Are Suited for Digital Printing
