The Hot Melt Committee of the Polymers, Laminations and Coatings Division has announced its new officers. Richard Stultz of Bostik Findley, Inc., in Warminster, PA, is the new chairperson. Assisting him as vice chairperson is Georges Altounian of Hercules, Inc., Wilmington, DE. Secretary is Janie Cameron of H. B. Fuller, Inc., in St. Paul, MN. The past chairperson is Loyce Ardemagni of Eastman Chemical in Kingsport, TN. All these officers will serve for a two-year term.
Altounian is also serving as the technical program chairperson for the 2001 Hot Melt Symposium. John Tangen of 3M Corp. in St. Paul, MN, is the tutorial chairperson for the 2001 Hot Melt Symposium. These positions are for one year.
“The primary activity of the Hot Melt Committee is to plan and conduct the annual Hot Melt Symposium held annually in June,” according to Stultz. “This premier event in the hot melt industry has long been the recognized technical forum for information on the latest developments in technology. The meeting addresses raw materials, adhesives, equipment, and uses. It has something for everyone from supplier to end user.”
Stultz notes that the Hot Melt Committee is always looking for new members to join and help with the many activities necessary to conduct their symposium. The committee provides an excellent opportunity for technical and marketing people from companies that supply hot melt raw materials and application equipment, formulators of hot melt adhesives, and users and distributors of hot melt adhesives to meet in a forum to advance the common goals of the industry. “Working side-by-side with people at the leading edge of current and future hot melt adhesive technologies is the primary benefit of membership in our committee,” says Stultz.
During his term of office, Stultz hopes to attract people who are hot melt consumers to join the Hot Melt Committee. He also plans to increase the participation of current members in committee activities. Stultz feels that this will allow the group to continue to offer an “annual symposium that provides up-to-date information on the latest technological advances, formulating techniques, and application equipment.” Stultz requests potential members to contact him by email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
