Using Renewable Energy

Wrightstown, WI | Coating Excellence Intl. (CEI) has committed to replace a portion of its traditionally carbon-sourced electrical energy with energy derived from renewable and carbon-free sources. On September 1, CEI began purchasing renewable electrical energy from Wisconsin Public Service's (WPS) NatureWise program. CEI says this agreement represents the largest quantity of NatureWise renewable carbon-free energy to be purchased in the WPS service territory. This renewable and carbon-free energy comprises 50% wind, 40% recovered landfill gas, and 10% agricultural gas.
George Fickau, manager of sustainable packaging at CEI, reports the company could have purchased renewable energy outside of Wisconsin but wanted to stay with a local provider. Says Fickau, “It shows our commitment to be an environmentally responsible manufacturer to our customers, employees, local communities, and Wisconsin. It helps us assist our customers in packaging their products in a more environmentally responsible way.”
