Elastomer Enhances BOPP Seal

Vistamaxx propylene-based elastomers help converters that currently manufacture BOPP films using specialty, polybutene-1 modified, terpolymer PP or apply a low sealing temperature coating. When Vistamaxx 3980FL is blended with a standard terpolymer PP, it reduces the SIT by as much as 15 deg C while improving hot tack. Blending it with a standard terpolymer PP or with a random copolymer PP reportedly delivers a lower cost option with improved seal hermeticity.
