Bemis Honored with DuPont Award

NEENAH, WI | Bemis Company, a supplier of flexible packaging used by food, consumer products, healthcare, and other companies worldwide, has been selected for a 2015 DuPont Award for Packaging Innovation, receiving a Silver Award in the Enhanced User Experience category for the BelGioioso resealable provolone cheese package.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious DuPont award and be recognized, along with our customer, for this innovative packaging solution,” says William Jackson, VP and chief technology officer of Bemis Company. “Our peel-reseal technology and practical structural design applied in the BelGioioso provolone package enable freshness, longer shelf life, and less food waste, thereby providing consumer convenience and environmental benefits.”
The company reports that the new BelGioioso resealable provolone package combines Bemis’ proprietary films and consumer convenience features to transform resealable packaging formats at the club store level. Incorporating a lightweight, thin, flexible forming film, this package reportedly provides consumers the ability to easily peel and reseal the package at least 20 times with Bemis’s SmartTack EZ Peel Reseal technology. Perforation between the package’s two compartments allows the consumer to easily separate without using a knife or scissors. Company adds that the individual cheese compartments are sealed separately, preserving the freshness of the unused portion and also reducing food waste—all while creating differentiation at the club store level for BelGioioso cheese
