In redesigning its entrée and pizza cartons, Kashi Frozen Foods Marketing wanted packaging with documented environmental benefits to support the brand's goals. The company chose ES Cream paperboard from Caraustar Industries, Atlanta, GA. The uncoated, 100% recycled paperboard has a natural linen-like appearance said to be cost effective and offers an improved environmental footprint compared to clay-coated grades. Because it is uncoated and a low-density grade, ES Cream uses less fiber per square foot, thus requiring less energy and water to produce.
