Silver and Gold

Packaging Corp. of America, Waco, TX, earned a Golden Cylinder Award from the Gravure Assn. of America for its 15-lb Miracle-Gro paperboard package. The image required four process colors, a metallic silver, match blue, and water-based coating, and it was printed one-up on a 52-in. wide web and 82-in. circumference Cerutti press. Cylinders took 7-12 hr each to engrave. MeadWestvaco supplied the substrate; inks came from Sun Chemical.
