Load Lightened For Easter Bunny

Chesapeake Corp., Richmond, VA, teamed up with a UK confectionery company to reduce the packaging for its organic chocolate Easter egg. The new bag-shaped package is made exclusively from cartonboard, eliminating the plastic insert that used to hold the egg in place. According to Dominic Lowe, Green & Black's managing director, “The packs were two years in development and marked the start of a journey to improve the sustainability of the packaging used in all our products, including chocolate bars.” The new packs are made from FSC-certified cartonboard and printed with six colors and a special drip-off varnish process that combines registered high gloss and matte varnishes, providing a strong shelf presence.
