How To Find Information Fast

This past September we hope you noticed PFFC's new look. It was designed to allow quick access to information.

We know that any number of management techniques implemented properly, including lean initiatives, have helped many converters trim costs to improve bottom lines. But such initiatives also can compress the amount of time available to administrators for discovering new and creative ways to increase their revenue. Somehow, you have to make time for this too.

Despite the shrinking amount of time available, managers still are responsible for achieving their revenue objectives. The bottom line is: It's their bread and butter.

So an industry trade journal that helps its readers utilize their time most efficiently is a true asset if it offers new ways to become more efficient, productive, profitable, and knowledgeable about their manufacturing practices and global competitive environment. For example, PFFC's redesigned “News Clips” department features short news briefs that bring our readers up to speed on the fast-paced changes taking place in our industry, including company consolidations, mergers and acquisitions, price increases, etc. These briefs are complemented with larger news reports that can impact your businesses, along with shorter announcements regarding people who have accepted new responsibilities.

In the same news section, our “At Work” vignettes give a quick look at products, services, or equipment literally at work in the marketplace at other converting operations with which you may be able to identify. What works for one business may have shared application at your own workplace.

Our monthly “Narrow Web & Label Reporter” and new bimonthly “Carton & Box Reporter” sections isolate content that's specific to your individual needs with new products, news, and full feature articles. The “What's New Products” sections remain a traditional favorite with our readers for gathering ideas for new materials, reducing costs, improving production operations, and achieving efficiencies on the plant floor.

And to all this, we offer PFFC's standard full-length articles, special reports, market trend data, and must-have directories that together provide a deeper, more comprehensive view of the converting industry at large. One user of our annual Contract Coating & Laminating Directory (see p48) told me he keeps this particular directory at the corner of his desk for instant reference.

Now I am pleased to announce a new resource that should benefit our readers tremendously in their search for valuable — and quick — information. PFFC's new website design (www.pffc-online.com) follows along the lines of a vertical search engine by segregating content in our very horizontal business into key industry segments. If you're looking for specific data relating to converting, PFFC's website has 11 “in-your-face” main content categories complemented by an additional 26 pull-down categories. No hunting required! Click on any of these categories and a comprehensive list of articles and news will appear. No other competing magazine website even comes close to this number of categories.

PFFC's reliable expert contributing staff also is easily accessible on our home page, where you'll be pleased to find their columns logically placed under (what else?!) “Columns.” You'll also find PFFC TV videos, directories (including the industry's most comprehensive Buyers Guide — no lie!), industry events, archived issues, and still more additional content! Please take a look, and tell me what you think!
