Inspection systems are said to offer accurate defect detection and brilliant defect images, formation analysis, defect and image data storage, roll and lane data reports, a rewind manager, and data mining. Systems are scalable using high-speed CCD line scan cameras and one or more optical channels to detect typical defects. An additional optical channel allows the inspection of thin and thick areas as well as the formation analysis. Modular design and standardized components result in easy installation and maintenance.
