The Macrowave radio frequency drying system is said to provide greater efficiency than conventional web dryers and to enable the high-speed drying of water-based patterned glue and coatings at line speeds reached previously only with solvent-based coatings. Capable of operating at web speeds to 1,500 fpm, system reportedly needs less floor space than that required for hot air and IR dryers, permits lower web temperatures, and provides up to 50% energy savings. Can be configured to handle webs to 120 in. wide.
