  • American Forest & Paper Assn., Washington, DC, reports total kraft paper shipments in May 2011 were 131,800 tons, an increase of 0.2% compared to May 2010, but up 1.5% compared to April 2011. Total boxboard production decreased by 1.5% compared to May 2010 but increased 1.0% from April 2011. Containerboard production rose when compared to April 2011, with month-over-month average daily production up 0.3%.

  • International Paper, Memphis, TN, makes a direct offer to Temple-Inland shareholders to acquire all outstanding shares of the company for $30.60/share.

  • Mankato Carton, North Mankato, MN, joins the Paperboard Packaging Council, Springfield, MA, as a principal member.

  • Citing its growing presence in the package printing market, MLP USA, Lincolnshire, IL, is relocating its corporate headquarters in autumn to Hunt Valley, MD, in a facility that houses the Corrugating Machinery Div. of its parent company, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, New York, NY.
