Coasting to a Clear Choice

Benny Yip, owner and creative director of a graphic design company named Velvet, wanted a customized, eye-catching addition for the holiday gift basket he was sending to customers. His choice for the gift was beverage coasters, and his choice for the coaster material was YUPO 144# Cover synthetic paper from Yupo Corp. America. “I wanted the coasters to be something clients could keep and cherish,” says Yip. “It was essential [they] stand up to constant exposure to moisture from beverages, as well as frequent handling.…Laminated paper did not offer the esthetic look I wanted and was too slippery to work as a coaster application. YUPO was a great alternative.”
