Paperboard Packaging Council Boot Camp Coming Up

SPRINGFIELD, MA | The Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) will host its first Folding Carton Boot Camp workshop of the year April 30–May 1, 2013, at PPC headquarters in Springfield. Although the Boot Camp is open to PPC members, brand-owners and nonmembers are also encouraged to attend.

According to PPC, the Folding Carton Boot Camp is recommended for anyone new to cartons—even if not new to the industry—and non-plant personnel with limited experience outside a single-plant operation. The course is designed to provide its alumni with a better understanding of the products and services their companies offer.

The workshop follows the entire folding carton production process. Instructors explain how fiber is recovered and paper is made; industry experts describe the uses of various inks and coatings as well as the processes involved in prepress, including CAD, layout, and graphics; and there is an overview of the tooling, embossing, foil stamping, stripping, finishing, gluing, and windowing processes. The workshop concludes with an assessment of automated packaging equipment.

To honor the completion of this crucial educational program, students are awarded a certificate of achievement at the close of the seminar.
