Colter & Peterson Plans Debuts at PRINT 17

CALDWELL NJ | Colter & Peterson will exhibit three new paper cutters at PRINT 17. September 10–14, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL. “The Print Show is usually very busy for us, so we anticipate a good amount of people will want to see the new equipment we will have on the floor,” says Bruce Peterson, president of the distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment. “We will debut our new and economical PRISM E-Cut Series, in addition to featuring our two paper cutter brand lines by running a new 45-in. SABER and 31.5-inch PRISM.

The PRISM E-Cut series is one of several new machines Colter & Peterson will introduce at PRINT 17

“We also are excited about the opportunity to demonstrate our CHM 1700 sheeter with Shanghai Eureka,” says Peterson. “We introduced this machine to the marketplace the last time PRINT was held in Chicago four years ago. Since then, customers have experienced the many benefits it has to offer and their shops have become more efficient.”

Featuring a modular design with the newest technology and Siemens electronics, the CHM 1700 dual rotary knife sheeter is said to be highly productive and accurate within 1/10th of an inch. Company says customers have experienced faster transition from paper to board and quicker makereadies, typically reducing set-up time by 50%.

“It has the smallest footprint of comparably sized machines in the market,” says Peterson. “Our customers like having the program capability with touch screen controls, plus they can develop 57-inch-tall skids. When you factor in the slitter flexibility and reliability delivered by the servo motor drive systems, it’s hard to match this machine.

“We have listened to our smaller format customers and E-Cut will be the most economical line of paper cutters in the market for its size,” Peterson says. “At 26 inches, it has a state-of-the-art design and a lot of firepower. With automated knife adjustment, the Omron computer and a refined safety system, you can expect reliable performance from a cutting system that is very simple to use. We believe it will be the low-cost leader for a niche market.”

The new 45-inch SABER with automated knife adjustment and 31.5-inch PRISM paper cutter will both be demonstrated with the Microcut PLUS Cutter Control System. Said to increase production by 50% or more, Microcut PLUS has a wide-format programmable touch screen and new software with an enhanced, color coordinated graphics package for converted JDF files.

“The Microcut PLUS Cutter Control System makes nearly every shop more efficient and effective. It gives a shop operator more control over their production and output,” says Peterson. “That’s why the overwhelming majority of new SABER and PRISM paper cutters are equipped with Microcut. Customers love the durability and versatility SABER has to cut many different and difficult types of substrates. They love the PRISM for its reliability and precise accuracy, and it serves another purpose. With its small footprint, it doesn’t take up a lot of space.”
