IHMA Commends Little Mermaid DVD Cover

SUNBURY, UK | The International Hologram Mfrs. Assn. (IHMA) presented its Excellence in Holography Awards in Delhi (NCR), India recently. In the category Best Applied Decorative Products, a DVD cover sleeve for "The Little Mermaid," produced by AGI-Shorewood, die manufacturer Metal Magic, and Hazen Paper, was highly praised.
The foil board is coated with a hi-def gloss and has an off-line sculpted embossing that creates texture and shine to the package. The glossy and embossed title and artwork provide dimensions to the package without overcompensating for the art. The package features a hologram special effect that mimics a "water glare" over the entire cover of the o-sleeve.
Organized by the IHMA, the annual Excellence in Holography Awards recognize outstanding achievement and reward those who have been at the forefront of the industry, pioneering innovative or new hologram products or techniques, as well as the best use of holograms in a commercial context. A display of products and applications featured at the event, showcasing the diverse security, anti-counterfeiting and packaging benefits provided by cutting-edge holographic technologies.
Delegates from hologram suppliers, manufacturers, and users around the world gathered at the awards, which presented at the annual industry dinner on November 8 during The Holography Conference. Entries were judged by the IHMA Board, representatives of the worldwide industry elected by IHMA members.
IHMA chairman Mike Messmer said: “We have again been impressed by the many remarkable innovations that keep this exciting, relevant and versatile technology to the fore. “Creativity, design excellence and diversity led the way among the entries, reinforcing how holography continues to push forward technical and commercial boundaries to find new applications and markets.”
The IHMA is made up of nearly 100 of the world's leading producers and converters of holograms for banknote security, anti-counterfeiting, brand protection, packaging, graphics, and other commercial applications around the world. Member companies actively cooperate to maintain the highest professional, security, and quality standards.
