Whitlam Label Boosts Variable Printing Skills with Jetrion System

CENTER LINE, MI, USA — Whitlam Label Co., a beta test site for the Jetrion 3025 Inkjet System, has expanded its variable printing capabilities "significantly," reports Jetrion LLC, manufacturer of the label company's new system.

Introduced at Drupa last May, the 3025 Inkjet System offers Whitlam, and other label converters, UV, drop-on-demand (DOD) technology, which "[yields] expanded flexibility and exceptional print quality for label production on all types of materials, including high-durability, harsh-enviroment substrates," states Jetrion.

Says Whitlam's executive VP of sales and marketing Kevin Hayes, "We ran many different label materials through the system during our testing, especially harsh-environment substrates that we produce for our automotive customers that need variable data labels. We printed clear, crisp images — such as barcodes and bitmap images — consistently on the materials we tested."

Hayes adds, "The Jetrion 3025 DOD system proved [to have] impressive speed and accuracy; it provides a new dimension to our production capabilities and enables us to give our customers the benefits of an advanced technology that will continue to improve our products and services."

Co-developed with Graph-Tech Ag of Switzerland, the Jetrion 3025 DOD Inkjet System provides the lowest running cost of available DOD marking printheads, says Jetrion. "[It] is especially valuable for production applications that require higher quality bar-coding, numbering, and variable messaging on printed products," adds the manufacturer.

Founded in 1957, Whitlam is a Tier I and Tier II supplier to the automotive industry; its customers include General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota, Ford, as well as many Fortune 100 industrial manufacturers. In addition, the Center Line, MI, USA-based label company was the first manufacturer to achieve the new ISO/TS 16949:2002 quality certification required for the automotive industry.
