Scodix Debuts Digital Enhancement Press

ROSH HA’AYIN, ISRAEL | Scodix introduced the Ultra Pro press at the recent Graph Expo 2014.

Company says the new system is engineered with the speed and quality of the Scodix Ultra (to 1,250 B2+ sheets/hr) and is equipped with controls enabling operators to switch, rapidly and easily, between multiple polymers for varying applications and effects. It also features Scodix Spot, a polymer that produces a spot varnish for short runs and digitally recreates the effect of traditional flat varnishes, reportedly without the setup time or mess.

The Ultra Pro is said to be engineered to maximize efficiency. Company’s patent-pending Ultra Twin-Tray media handling system conveys sheets under the fixed array of inkjet UV ink heads in a single pass. Two trays operate simultaneously, there is an independent motion system for each tray, and 4 CCD cameras provide pinpoint registration accuracy.

The system enables a single operator to run the system, and maintenance can be carried out automatically and remotely.
