Titan Slitter Is the Choice for Spanish Converter

Plásticos Industriales S.A., Valencia, Spain, recently commissioned a new, fully automated Titan SMA 900 slitter/rewinder from Valmet Converting in an effort to increase PVC production capacity by 60% in 2002.

The SMA 900 includes the concept of the original Titan SMA but has been completely reworked and adapted to market needs. The slitter has a maximum finished roll diameter of 900 mm. It is designed to take working widths to 2.5 m with diameters to 1,500 mm, running at maximum speeds of 800 mpm, depending on the web substrate being slit on the machine.

Reportedly, a key factor for Plásticos in its selection of the Titan slitter was the reduction in ancillary process times: A 60-sec finished roll change time and 10-min job changeovers add substantial economic efficiency to the converter.
