WASHINGTON, DC | NPE2012 is approaching quickly. Events begin April 1, and the exposition hall of the Orange County Convention Ctr., Orlando, FL will be open from April 2–5. Producer/owner SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Assn., reports online voting is now open for the “People’s Choice” award in the International Plastics Design Competition. • The Bioplastics Div. of Teknor Apex Co., Pawtucket, RI, will feature Terraloy bioplastic compounds. The company has developed a diverse range of biopolymer-based compounds and become an active member of the fast-growing industry community dedicated to fostering bioplastics growth. Edwin Tam, manager of new strategic initiatives for the division, is the 2012 chairman of the Bioplastics Council, a special interest group of SPI. At NPE the
company will feature Terraloy bioplastic compounds. Edwin Tam will deliver the opening presentation, Bioplastics 101, and will participate in a panel discussion titled Bioplastics: An Opportunity for Everyone. The session will take place on Tuesday morning, April 3. (Visit Booth 58038)

Siemens, Munich, Germany, will highlight Industrial Ethernet Connectivity; Automation Solutions for Extruders; Energy-Efficient Servo Pump

Technology; and Motion Control Systems for Plastics Machinery. (Visit Booth 4881)

Labtech Engineering, Samutprakarn, Thailand, will show what it calls the world’s smallest, fully functional ultra micro blown film line with a traditional horizontal extruder. The line was secretly designed and built by the
company’s engineers and technicians during their spare time, initially intended to be a personal New Year’s gift to the president of Labtech, but it performed so well the company decided to offer it to customers for R&D. (Visit Booth 6185)
