Durst Installs Press at Commerce Label & Tape

 MONTREAL, QC, CANADA | Commerce Label & Tape has taken possession of the first Durst Tau 150-8C UV inkjet label press with eight-color capability. The company evaluated a number of digital label systems before deciding on the Tau 150-8C and Rotoworx 330 converting and finishing system, reports Jean Brazeau, founder and president of Commerce.

“The Durst brand is well known in the wide-format printing market,” says Brazeau, “and their reputation for quality engineering and service was important in our decision to buy. [And] the investment in digital means we can offer our customers a high quality product without sacrificing turnaround times or service.”

As for why he chose the eight-color model, Brazeau says, “We wanted to respond to new label market needs but also to offer something unique.” According to Brazeau, Commerce is the first label printer worldwide to offer in-line, one-pass digital UV inkjet printing with CMYK as well as opaque white, orange and violet, and spot varnish.
