Air Motion Systems Issues New Curing Module

RIVER FALLS, WI | Air Motion Systems has expanded its portfolio of LED-based curing solutions with a new compact, low-profile LED-UV curing module, the Label XD Series.
Company says the Label XD Series is designed as a more affordable alternative to the its flagship XP Series LED-UV line and is ideal for use on small (half-size) and mid-size presses, and short-run and on-demand digital and flexo setups. The new units can be built to any requested width, as small as a few inches, and up to 3.2 m (126 in.) wide, to provide seamless curing on any width of press.
This chip-based (bulb-free) curing system also feature a thin, super-compact form factor in terms of lamp-on-press, reportedly making it easily integrated on presses that have little space to spare. In terms of intensity, the series can deliver a power density as great as 25 W/cm2, and wavelength options of 340, 365, 385, 395, and 405 nanometers are available.
The LED chips are said to have an expected life of 30,000+ hours or more without degradation, and with more consistent curing, and draw significantly less energy than a standard mercury-based UV-curing lamp systems do, so printers enjoy savings on electric bills.
An easily connected dual-pass, high-flow water circuit keeps lamps consistently cool, even in extreme environments, and provides a level of security and safety not found with air-cooled systems, adds company.
