CINCINNATI, OH | Nilpeter offers the fully servo-driven FA-6* mid-web flexo press, said to produce high quality, cost-effective flexible packaging and self-adhesive labels using multiple substrates.
Fully customized configurations can include one or more of the company’s multi-purpose MP-6 converting units. Designed as “quick-change” platforms, they have automatic unwind and rewind capabilities. Film-based products include wrap-around labels, tube laminates, pouches, sachets, and shrink sleeves. MP-6 units offer multiple-high intensity air drying and UV-curing of process work, inks, adhesives, and coatings.
In-line functions include high-speed solvent- and water-based flexo printing with a reverse-side capability. A UV-cured lamination capability includes glossy effects, surface protection, barrier solutions, and cold foiling. There is also a solvent dry lamination capability for special laminates, barriers, pouches, and sachets.
Other value-adding options include the G-6 gravure unit Using easy-load cassettes, it prints metallic inks, opaque white, and special coatings. Reversible ink heads allow front or reverse-side printing. G-6 units have adjustable doctor blades, an ink circulation system, viscosity control, and a drying and vacuum system for use with solvent-based products.
Company says the FA-6* is configured with a series of functions and systems designed for optimum efficiency. They include the CLEANINKING system for water-based or UV-cured flexo inks, and the PowerLink control system with individual job-change functions. The FA-6* operates to high tolerance standards, while the dot-gain characteristics for flexo printing ensure high quality products.
The FA-6* has a maximum print width of 560 mm (22 in). Sleeve system reportedly permits an extra-short web path with easy loading of tooling to reduce substrate wastage. The repeat length is 304.8–635 mm (12–22 in.) for flexo and 457.2–635 mm (18-25 in.) for die-cutting. The press has a top mechanical speed of 175 mpm (574 fpm). The gravure repeat length is 457.2–635 mm (18-25 in.)
