BCS Machine Provides Cartons in Short Runs

ELMHURST, IL | BCS (British Converting Solutions) reports it provided ACE Packaging Containers, Fairfield, Victory, Australia with a new boxmaking machine, the Autobox complete with an inline flexo printer to help Ace with the increasing demand for short runs of custom boxes.
ACE is a family-run business that has been operating ne since the 1950s. It was founded by Dave Langdon and initially sold tea chests but has developed significantly since its initial focus. Now run by Nick and Philip Langdon, it functions as a business-to-business supplier of boxes and cartons.
The Langdons say they have seen a change in the market over the last few years due to the rise of eCommerce. “With the advent of e-commerce business and POS display, it has driven a new generation of buyers for us, who don’t require 5,000 boxes but might need 500 boxes in 200 different sizes and 20 different styles in a day!”
This increasing need for short-run solutions led the brothers to search for a new boxmaking machine. However, they expressed difficulty in finding a box plant that allowed short runs, as well as in the custom shapes and sizes that their customers demanded.
The Autobox from BCS is a corrugated cardboard machine that has an auto-feeder, delivering creased and cut boxes that are tailored to the user’s specific size and style. Nick Langdon praises the machine for its simple set-up process and ease of use, and says it definitely suits his company’s key requirement: delivering short runs of boxes.
