HERMA Adhesive Promises Benefits

FILDERSTADT, GERMANY | HERMA will feature the 62Xpc multilayer adhesive at Labelexpo Europe 2017, September 25–28, at the Brussels Expo in Brussels, Belgium.

Said to provide a very strong tack with a clear view, the HERMAperfectCut (62Xpc) has been has optimized for films with regard to flow behavior and transparency and reportedly achieves not only extremely strong tack but also considerably increased clarity. Company says it is especially suited for high-quality film labels in growth segments such as cosmetics, personal hygiene, and cleaning products.

Adhesive 62Xpc is suited for high-quality film labels in growth segments such as cosmetics, personal hygiene, and cleaning products.

Also reported to be an ideal solution for rough or difficult-to-label surfaces, which are a challenge for product identification in production processes. It is crucial for the adhesive to ensure immediate tack despite the very high labeling speed, preventing the label from slipping out of place and its corners from protruding. The adhesive is said to penetrate surfaces much faster, thereby achieving extremely strong initial tack.

The adhesive is also said to reduce the clouding of label edges caused by prolonged contact with water and to offer excellent processing parameters. The adhesive coating applied by the multilayer process “breaks down” faster, for example, and thus facilitates the die-cutting operation during label production, company reports. Among other things, the die-cutting pressure can thus be decreased by 15%– 20%. This not only reduces wear but also contributes to extending production machines’ service life.

With this adhesive, furthermore, cohesion—the internal force that holds together the adhesive layer—has been significantly increased. Since practically no adhesive bleeding takes place as a result, the 62Xpc adhesive reportedly offers outstanding and reliable processability in the production environment, without exposing the user to any compromises as regards high initial tack and outstanding final adhesion

Finally, company says the 62Xpc provides excellent resistance to light, heat, and ageing, is completely migration-safe, and has the unrestricted approval for direct contact with foodstuffs.
