Stellar Films Group Forms Akronn Industries

SELANGOR, MALAYSIA | Stellar Films Group reports the startup of Akronn Industries, a new silicone release and coating business whose name means “leading edge” in Greek.

The new purpose-built production facility in Nilai, near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is equipped to manufacture high quality release liners for the hygiene, photovoltaic, graphic arts, tapes, and other industrial markets.

The facility is focused on solvent-free coating of both paper and film substrates, multicolor back printing, and narrow-coil slitting capabilities. Customers will be able to source a diverse mix of paper- and film- based release products, sustainably produced in an eco-friendly plant. Akronn technical director Peter Symons, says, “From the beginning, we set out to build a state-of-the-art, world-class facility to enable us to offer our customers efficiency and flexibility. We feel we’ve accomplished that goal.”

Company says Akronn products will also complement the high-performance cast embossed release films that are central to Stellar’s global product offering. Stephen Walters, Stellar Films Group’s CEO, confirms that the creation of Akronn Industries is a strategic move. “Our customers’ needs are our top priority. In today’s fast-moving markets, they require from us ongoing R&D and an expanding product portfolio. This new facility is proof of our continuing commitment to support them in this requirement.”
