Mill To Serve P-S Markets

STEVENS POINT, WI | NewPage Corp. reports the No. 3 paper machine at its Escanaba, MI, mill will manufacture release liner and general-purpose label papers for North American and international p-s markets.

“Based on customer feedback, market growth, and our long history of serving the pressure-sensitive industry, we determined that Escanaba's No. 3 paper machine is an excellent manufacturing platform for meeting the stringent performance requirements of this market,” says Ed Buehler, general manager for specialty papers.

The Escanaba mill is third-party certified to three chain-of-custody systems, including the Forest Stewardship Council (BV-COC-953662), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes.

NewPage mills have a total annual production capacity of approximately 4.4 million tons of paper, including coated, uncoated, and specialty. The company reported $3.1 billion in net sales for the year ended Dec. 31, 2009.
