NORWALK, CT, USA—Packaging printers using the Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System can now produce proofs with the eye-catching metallics and opaque whites so popular in today's packaging, says KPG.
KPG announces the worldwide availability of KPG Matchprint Digital Halftone Silver Media, KPG Matchprint Digital Halftone Gold Media, and KPG Matchprint Digital Halftone White Media. "The new products expand the capabilities of the KPG Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System, providing accurate proofing of opaque white, metallic silver, and gold inks," explains the manufacturer.
"In packaging, color accuracy is extremely important because brand owners depend on color to represent the brand while attracting the consumer's attention," adds KPG's proofing worldwide product manager Jerry Willer, "[Our] new metallic and opaque white donors help Matchprint Digital Halftone users give their customers peace of mind that their packaging will look the way it was designed."
According to KPG, its Matchprint Digital Halftone Metallic Media gives printers the ability to proof silver and gold inks using the KPG Matchprint Digital Halftone System; the KPG Matchprint Digital Halftone White Media enables the creation of high-quality digital halftone proofs that include an opaque white underlayer as required for printing on clear or foil substrates, says the company.
"The opaque white material can be imaged in the same Creo Spectrum equipment already in use with the existing range of Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing materials." Also, reports KPG, "The Matchprint Digital Halftone Proofing System, an IR thermal digital halftone system, is designed for imagers featuring a common RIP to make both plates and proofs, ensuring identical screening on the proof and the plate."
