interpack 2017 Announces Record Registration

CHICAGO, IL | interpack 2017, Processes and Packaging, has recorded the largest exhibitor demand in its more than 55-year history, reports organizer Messe Düsseldorf. By the official registration deadline end of February 2016, companies had booked about 20% more space than is available in the 19 halls of the Düsseldorf exhibition center. The event is scheduled for May 4–10, 2017.

The concurrently held “components” event with products of packaging technology suppliers is expected to be fully booked as well—even though the temporarily erected lightweight hall (Hall 18) offers more than twice as much space as in 2014.

Organizers say the show offers products and solutions from the sectors of packaging technology, related processes, and packaging materials for the segments of food and beverage, confectionery and bakery products, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, non-food consumer goods, and industrial goods. The exhibitors’ product ranges are complemented by special themes. At interpack 2017, the spotlight will be on Industry 4.0, staged in cooperation with the German Engineering Federation (VDMA). In form of a technology lounge at the VDMA stand, the special show will present examples of applications in the packaging machinery and process technology sector for new application potentials regarding safety, traceability, copy and piracy protection, and individualized packaging.

The theme of SAVE FOOD will again be prominent at interpack 2017. The “innovationparc” special show will display packaging strategies and solutions to help reduce food loss and waste—including the winners of the national competitions for the SAVE FOOD Packaging Awards of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). Selected in advance of interpack, the winners will compete for the WorldStar Awards. Also integrated in innovationparc will be a lecture forum for companies to present their solutions and strategies.

Scheduled on the first day of interpack 2017 is the third international SAVE FOOD Congress with the participation of its partner institutions: the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
