TLMI Gives Members a Shot of Confidence

SCOTTSDALE, AZ | The Tag & Label Mfrs. Inst., Gloucester, MA, held its 2009 Annual Meeting October 18-21 at the Westin Kierland Resort. More than 350 attendees were attracted to the conference theme, “From Crisis to Confidence: Capturing Opportunities Out of Volatility.” John Wurzburger, VP/GM of Avery Dennison, Fasson Roll North America, chaired the meeting.

Attendees heard presentations by Dr. Barry Asmus, senior economist for the National Center for Policy Analysis; Tim Sanders, past chief solutions officer at Yahoo! and the author of Saving the World at Work: What Companies and Individuals Can Do to Go Beyond Making a Profit to Making a Difference; and artist/consultant Eric Wahl, The Wahl Group.

Cheryl Caudill, Multi-Color Corp., moderated a panel that tackled industry trends in a session entitled “Go Where the Puck Is: Are You in Control of Your Destiny?” Panel members included Robert Crooker Jr., senior VP, Heidelberger; Joe Morgan, president/CEO, Standard Register; and Kevin Lanigan, VP, sales and marketing, Phototype.

In the association's annual competition, Logmatix, Marietta, GA, earned the distinction of being Best of Show with its Red Rain energy drinks decal for use inside drink cooler doors. Dave McDowell, chairman of McDowell Label and Screen, was honored as Converter of the Year. Gary Smith, RotoMetrics, was named Supplier of the Year. Environmental Leadership Awards were presented to Spear Systems and 3M.
