Gravure System Is at Tech Center

Fribourg, Switzerland | Polytype Converting's Technology Center now is equipped with the pressurized gravure chamber system AGS 2500 S “System BASF” from Pagendarm. This will allow Pagendarm customers the opportunity to use this technology for trial purposes on a second coating line (the system is also on a BASF pilot plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany).

The system comprises two independent pressurized chambers supplied by independent liquid conveying systems. The benefit of this technology is decoupled process functions: One pump supplies the barrier chamber with coating liquid, avoiding any air entrainment and providing what is said to be a brilliant coating transparency in which the coating thickness is controlled only by the dosing pump and not influenced by the barrier chamber conditions.
