Mikoh, Intermec Technologies Produce Smart&Secure Labels

MCLEAN, VA, USA—Mikoh Corp., a provider of Asset Integrity Protection Technologies for item and supply chain management, and Intermec Technologies Corp., Everett, WA, a global leader in the development, mfg., and integration of automated data collection technologies and label converting processes, have announced a collaboration to incorporate Smart&Secure RFID transponders (thin, flexible Radio Frequency Identification circuits) into a unique array of p-s label constructions.

Intermec reports it is the first converter to attain Smart&Safe certification. Together, the companies will develop new label constructions specifically designed to take full advantage of Smart&Secure tamper-intelligence capabilities. Intermec's Media Business Unit, based in Cincinnati, OH, has established special testing and quality control processes to ensure reliability and performance of Smart&Secure labels produced by its proprietary converting operation. The first Smart&Secure label products for general use in item management, supply chain, and logistics applications are expected early in 2001, with specialized label constructions intended for specific applications scheduled for release later in the year.
