DuPont Imaging Technologies Gets TLMI and FTA Kudos for Cyrel FAST Technology

WILMINGTON, DE, USA—DuPont Imaging Technologies reports its "unique" Cyrel Fast dry flexographic platemating system was recently touted by TLMI (Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute). According to DuPont, TLMI honored the company with the trade group's very first Environmental Leadership Award.

The company says this award recognizes a variety of environmental achievements, including new technology or process improvements that contribute to sound environmental stewardship within the tag and label industry. "Cyrel Fast was selected for its innovative thermal processing technology that eliminates the need for solvents and other chemicals traditionally required to produce flexo plates," says DuPont, adding that flexography is the primary process used worldwide for printing tags and labels.

Says Jim Austin, DuPont Imaging Technologies' marketing manager, North America, "The combination of this award from TLMI with the Flexographic Technical Association's [FTA] recent Technology Innovation Award provides excellent acknowledgement of the hard work DuPont scientists are doing to help advance flexography as well as the capabilities of customers who use DuPont techology."

DuPont adds, in presenting this award, TLMI's committee chair Calvin Frost acknowledged Cyrel Fast's ability to eliminate the time and expense of environmental risks of storing, recycling, and safely disposing of chemicals and solvents used in conventional plate production. The prepress technology manufacturer also says Frost noted that "In states where such solvents are regulated chemicals, the dry platemaking system provides the added benefit of eliminating government paperwork and time related to regulatory compliance."
