Heidelberg Opens Training Center in Kabul, Afghanistan

HEIDELBERG, GERMANY—Heidelberg reports it recently opened a training center for printers and prepress operators in Kabul, Afghanistan. Heidelberg says it's offering training courses in an approximately 300 sq m facility, which includes a mechanical workshop with a welding station, turning lathes, workbenches, and an area for training on various printing presses and finishing machines.

According to the Germany-based press manufacturer, it's the first OEM in the print media industry to offer products and solutions through its own local organization in Afghanistan. The Kabul training center is located on the Heidelberg Afghanistan sales office grounds, which was established April 2003. "The company's mission in Afghanistan is to support post-war reconstruction in the country and build sales of printing machinery and consumables as well as training and services. The first order for presses already has been received," adds Heidelberg.
