Agfa Opens New Wuxi, China, Plate Manufacturing Facility

MORTSEL, BELGIUM—Late last week, Agfa announced the launch of a new manufacturing facility in Wuxi New Development Zone, China. According to Agfa, the "state-of-the-art" plant will produce Agfa's portfolio of digital and analog plates to meet Asia's increasing demands for quality printing technology.

The manufacturer says the newly established Wuxi plant represents a significant investment of 50 million euros; its production line has a capacity of 25 million sq meters. The company adds the new facility's quality control, environmental protection, and safety standards are as high as those applied to other Agfa operations.

Says Agfa GM for graphic systems and president of the board of management Mr. Follens, "Our Wuxi factory will supply the Chinese market with analog and digital plates and also will export to the other Asian markets. We will offer our customers not only plates, but the full range of our solutions, comprising prepress equipment and software."

According to Agfa, the Wuxi, China, plant is the most recent addition to Agfa's list of worldwide plate manufacturing sites. The company says other sites are located in Wiesbaden, Germany; Branchburg, NJ, USA; Leeds, U.K.; Pont-a-Marcq, France; Suzano, Brazil; and Banwol, South Korea. Visit Agfa at agfa.com.
