Tufco Sales Up 2.1 MIL from Q2 This Year

GREEN BAY, WI, USA—Tufco Technologies, a provider of diversified custom packaging solutions, specialty printing services, and paint sundries, reports the co.'s Q3 2002 sales are up $2.1 million (US), total of $20.5 million, a 12 percent increase from the second quarter (Q2). "The increase in sales, when compared to second quarter fiscal 2002, primarily was related to increased product demand in all sectors."

Says Lou LeCalsey, Tufco president/CEO: "It has turned out well that our company went into the fiscal year 2002 with realistic expectations for a difficult marketplace. We have done exactly what we said we would do in a tough fiscal year 2002—trimmed costs and become leaner, strengthened growth business sectors, and downsized our Dallas, TX-based business imaging sector so it has the chance to contribute to Tufco earnings."

According to Tufco, its contract manufacturing operation in Green Bay hired two more market managers, expanded the customer base with new contracts and new customers, and, with the purchase of a Paper Converting Machine Co. (PCMC) Clipper wet-wipes converting machine, further underlined the intent to be recognized as America's number-one specialty nonwovens products outsourcing partner. The company adds its flexo printing is going gangbusters too. "Our Windmoeller & Hoelscher flexographic printing press is at full capacity. " In addition to the manufacturing operation in Green Bay, WI, Tufco manufactures products in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas.
