Scodix Press Enhances Folding Cartons

ROSH HA’AYIN, ISRAEL | Scodix a provider of enhancement solutions for the graphic arts industry, has launched its breakthrough E106 enhancement press for the folding carton market.

Making its debut at drupa 2016, May 31–June 10 in Düsseldorf, Germany, the E106 is offered in a B1 (1,060x760 mm) format, enables production to 4,000 sph, and is said to make medium to short run lengths viable that were previously unachievable.

Scodix CEO Roy Porat says, “We expect the E106 to be highly disruptive in the packaging sector. We have already taken eight press orders from prospective customers—many claiming that this was the kind of unique capability they urgently needed. Print embellishments provide an opportunity for converters to add value to products, when there’s often little scope to do this elsewhere in the converting process. As average run lengths decrease, [our] digital enhancement presses—with no tooling costs and next to no setup—become an undeniably attractive option to replace analog equipment.…”

Company says the press delivers multiple print enhancements in one versatile technology platform, providing premium quality effects including Scodix Sense, (http://scodix.com/company/technology/) Scodix Spot, Scodix Braille, Scodix Digital Embossing, Scodix Variable Data finishes, and Scodix Foil, all in a single press. The foil system was developed for the company by Compact Foilers, as a continuation of their ongoing cooperation.

Scodix partnered with MABEG Systems to design and produce the E106 paper handling system. The digital enhancement press reportedly is proficient with a wide range of substrates from paperboard to plastic and metallized boards, as well as offset and digital prints, as well as WB coated and a wide range of laminated products.
