Q&A: CMD's Scott Fuller on Strategic Partnerships with DAC Engineering and Hagihara
- Published: October 20, 2025

For more than 45 years, CMD Corporation has designed and built high-performance equipment for the film converting and alternative energy markets, backed by comprehensive service and support. Always seeking ways to deliver more value, CMD recently expanded its portfolio through two strategic partnerships: DAC Engineering, bringing advanced print-web inspection technology, and Hagihara, adding specialized web-converting capabilities. In this interview, Scott Fuller, CMD's Intermittent Motion Product Line Manager, shares how these collaborations enhance CMD's solutions and customer experience.
Scott, can you give us a quick overview of the DAC partnership?
In January 2025, CMD became the exclusive North American Sales, Service, and Spare Parts partner for the CMD/DAC Web Inspection System. DAC's technology delivers high-speed, high-accuracy defect detection, and by pairing it with MD's regional support, customers get faster integration and ongoing service they can count on.
What are the system's standout features?
The CMD/DAC Web Inspection System combines proprietary optics and lighting with intuitive software, so setup takes just two touches. It provides full-color imaging, programmable alarm thresholds, and modular options to match different production needs. It's designed for speed, accuracy, and ease of use.
Why did CMD choose to partner with DAC Engineering?
It came down to three things:
- Enhancing our portfolio with best-in-class inspection technology.
- Synergy - DAC's solutions integrate seamlessly with our customer's existing converting equipment.
- Sustainability - better inspection means less waste, which aligns with CMD's mission to make operations more efficient and environmentally responsible.
What impact does this have on customers?
They’ll see fewer defects slipping through, reduced downtime, and less scrap. Plus, CMD provides local service, training, and spare parts, so customers aren't left waiting for overseas support.
CMD also offers CMD/Hagihara solutions. How does Hagihara fit into your strategy?
Hagihara brings specialized web-converting technology to our portfolio. It complements DAC's inspection systems, allowing us to deliver a complete solution - from converting to inspection - all under the CMD umbrella.
Why bring Hagihara into CMD's lineup?
Hagihara expands our capabilities in web converting, helping us serve as a one-stop solution provider. It increases process reliability, supports waste reduction, and gives customers a broader range of equipment options.
How do these partnerships reflect CMD's values?
CMD is built on innovation, integrity, customer success, and service excellence. DAC strengthens our innovation footprint, Hagihara broadens our technical reach, and our 24/7 support ensures customers are always covered. Both partnerships are about giving our customers the tools and service they need to succeed.
Q: What's next for CMD in this space?
We'll keep looking for ways to integrate inspection and converting technology even more seamlessly. Expect solutions that speed up production, simplify processes, and evolve with changing market demands.
By joining forces with DAC and Hagihara, CMD is delivering more than machines — we're delivering complete, supported, and sustainable solutions for web converting and inspection.
