Heidelberg Hosts Odyssey Attendees at Demo Center

KENNESAW, GA | Heidelberg USA hosted an open house at its Print Media Demonstration Center (PMDC) on the eve of the 2009 Odyssey trade exhibition — staged May 6-9 in Atlanta by the Intl. Assn. of Diecutting and Diemaking (IADD) and the Foil & Specialty Effects Assn. (FSEA). Seventy-five customers saw demonstrations of the Speedmaster XL 105, Diana X 135 folder/gluer, KAMA ProCut 74 half-size die-cutter, and Dymatrix Pro CSB die-cutter.

“We were delighted to cooperate with the IADD and FSEA in making the resources of the Heidelberg PMDC available to Odyssey attendees,” said Dan Maurer, VP, postpress product management.

CardPak Joins TICCIT

SOLON, OH | CardPak is joining with local schools and the National Paperboard Packaging Council in sponsoring the Trees Into Cartons, Cartons Into Trees (TICCIT) program. The program highlights the natural renewability and sustainability of paperboard packaging.

As part of TICCIT, milk cartons are collected out of schools' waste streams. Seeds and saplings are planted in the cartons and then into the ground. As the trees grow, the cartons break down, completing the cycle.

Press Opens Up Cosmetics Market

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ | Century Packaging has invested in a six-color Mitsubishi Diamond 3000LX press with UV coating capabilities. The 40-in. press prints on paper, board, and plastic in thicknesses ranging from 0.0016-0.040 in. CEO Tom Picciolo Jr. says Century will focus more on cosmetics packaging. “With the Diamond 3000LX, we will be in an excellent position to take on the competition and grow our sales,” he says. The press is outfitted with the SimulChanger automated plate changing system. It replaces all six plates in perfect register in just over a minute, Picciolo says.

CMM Examines Folding Cartons
