TLMI Scholarship Golf Challenge: 5th Straight Success

PRESS RELEASE

MILWAUKEE, WI, USA—Organized every year by Labelexpo to raise money for students interested in pursuing an education in the tag and label industry, the annual Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute's Scholarship Golf Challenge was a "great success" for the fifth time, says Tarsus Group, sponsor/organizer of the Labelexpo trade show venues.

According to Tarsus, 106 suppliers and converters attended this year's challenge, which took place July 19, 2004, at the Lake Barrington Shores Golf Club in Barrington (near Chicago), IL, USA. The winning team included Mike Buystedt, ANI Printing INks; Rob Smithson, Trinity Graphics; Steve Lee, Rotometrics; and Pat Hague, Water Ink Technologies.

This year, reports the organizer, the event raised $17,610, putting the total raised in five years at $56,610.

Kevin Hayes, a 2004 challenge participant and executive VP at Whitlam Engineered ID Solutions, reports, "I enjoyed the interaction with peers—sharing ideas, best practices—while helping fund a great initiative. I would encourage all TLMI members to support this first-class event and take advantage of an enjoyable networking opportunity. I plan on participating again in 2005."

Adds TLMI president John Bankson, "This year's golf challenge was a big success, with 20 more golfers than last year. Everyone had a great day, and we managed to raise a lot of money for a good cause. This is now a permanent event in the labels calendar, and I look forward to seeing even more TLMI members taking part next year."

In addition to services and support provided by Rosemont-area vendors, industry-related companies like PCMC and Mark Andy provided donations for the event.
