Printing Plate Eliminates Dampener

Veteran printing press technician and inventor Mike Hecht had received a patent for a low-cost printing plate and method which eliminates the dampener and dampening solution on litho presses. The invention is applicable to all makes and sizes of litho presses, sheetfed, and webfed. A "Mike Plate" is made with low-cost materials in the print shop plate room with standard plate room equipment. "Mike's Method" can be used on CTP or film jobs. As noted in the patent, the invention makes it possible to eliminate the blanket cylinder and blanket on litho presses.
